Trillium Staffing is now seeking a Senior Project Engineer for direct-hire in New Berlin!

Hiring company is a global leader in lifting equipment and material handling solutions, is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team.

The Senior Electrical/Software Engineer will be part of the Client Company’s Nuclear Equipment and Services division, specializing in overhead cranes and hoists. This role involves conducting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and final commissioning. The ideal candidate will have expertise in reading and designing electrical schematics, using AutoCAD Electrical, performing electrical calculations, programming PLCs with ladder logic, and designing HMI applications (primarily Rockwell and Siemens). This engineer will also perform field startups and testing, working in industrial environments, with detailed knowledge of electric motor controls, utility circuits, safety circuits, and operator controls related to overhead cranes and hoists. Troubleshooting experience with components such as circuit breakers, transformers, motor starters, contactors, relays, inverters (AC/DC), and braking resistors is essential. Startups and field service activities may require domestic and international travel for durations of 1-2 months.

This position will report to the Electrical Engineering Supervisor.

Responsibilities:
-Lead as the electrical/software engineer at the site/office, offering technical supervision to other electrical engineers, technicians, and workers.
-Collaborate with the project manager to define work requirements, ensure customer acceptance, meet schedules, and review daily work activities.
-Support the Installation Site Supervisor.
-Troubleshoot and modify computer programs such as PLC code or HMI programs used in automating business processes.
-Understand, read, design, and markup single-line diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, and interconnect/conduit drawings.
-Return these marked-up drawings to Engineering to maintain configuration control.
-Calculate wire sizes, drive sizes, braking resistors, transformers, contactors, and overload protection for crane models up to 800V DC and 4160V AC, using provided specifications and electrical codes.
-Participate in FAT and work collaboratively with engineers and service technicians to solve problems, both in the shop and field.
-Collaborate with other departments to research, define, and communicate solutions.
-Act as the engineering/software lead at the site during testing, ensuring the equipment is prepared and conducting SAT with the customer to validate the equipment functions as intended.
-Foster excellent customer relations, with a solution-oriented approach to expedite testing and startup processes. Demonstrate a willingness to learn new concepts and self-teach when needed.
-Provide input to design improvements, offering insights to the chief engineer for enhancing functionality or reducing costs.
-Travel up to 20-40% of the time and be physically capable of climbing vertical ladders up to 50+ feet. Non-engineering duties include working with project managers to meet deadlines and with purchasing to specify required parts.

-A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE, BSEET) or equivalent is required.
-Preferred experience includes 5-10 years in electrical engineering, particularly with field startups, wiring, PLC/HMI programming, and variable frequency drive setup.
-Experience with Rockwell PLC/HMI, Siemens PLC/HMI, Magnetek VFDs, and Siemens VFDs is preferred.
-Familiarity with NEC electrical code and its application is necessary.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with others to maximize productivity. Customer-focused and able to manage challenging individuals.
-Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to nuclear and government facilities, with the ability to stay in the field for up to 1-2 months at a time. Fieldwork constitutes 20-40% of the role.
