Direct hire opportunity for a Director of Consumer lending.  

The Director of Consumer Lending is responsible for managing and leading Consumer Lending teams. This includes overseeing loan application underwriting, processing, booking, vendor management, loan origination system configuration, and credit risk controls. The role ensures service goals are met while identifying opportunities to enhance internal and external member service. Additionally, the Director supports the Chief Lending Officer with planning and strategic initiatives.

This position drives growth and innovation in consumer lending using data analytics and technical expertise. The Director provides leadership, motivates, and coaches employees to meet team goals, and oversees all aspects of consumer lending.

Essential Job Functions:
-Set performance targets and develop strategies to optimize the consumer loan portfolio.
-Oversee indirect consumer lending programs, including leasing.
-Implement changes to improve loan decisions, portfolio performance, and growth.
-Ensure efficient delivery of consumer loans through direct, indirect, and third-party channels.
-Develop and launch new loan products and contribute to organizational projects.
-Evaluate systems for loan origination, risk assessment, fraud detection, and regulatory compliance.
-Ensure compliance with laws and regulations and maintain effective operational controls.
-Assist with planning strategic business initiatives.
-Build a collaborative, accountable team culture; train, motivate, and develop employees.
-Foster relationships with strategic partners and vendors to enhance efficiency.
-Evaluate credit applications, audit decision quality, and provide guidance.
-Address policy issues and respond to regulatory findings.
-Manage team priorities, schedules, and performance evaluations.
-Resolve member service issues and maintain service quality.
-Manage vendor relationships and technology providers to meet goals.
-Monitor budgets for assigned business lines.
-Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Other Responsibilities:
-Occasionally travel to other locations, functions, and training.
-Promote and cross-sell credit union products and services.
-Represent the credit union professionally.
-Comply with Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC requirements.
-Uphold the credit union’s mission, vision, and core values.

Minimum Formal Education:
-Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience:
-Five years of management in a credit union or financial institution in a Lending capacity (direct consumer loans, such as personal and car loans, and indirect lending experience).

Other Requirements:
-Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Strong computer skills.
-Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to work collaboratively and cohesively across multifunctional teams.
