Trillium Staffing is now seeking a Payroll Specialist in Lansing, MI!
The pay rate is $23-25 per hour and this is 1st shift, full-time work!
Are you an experienced Payroll Specialist looking for a role where you can make a real impact? Our client’s Accounting team is searching for a detail-oriented and proactive professional to help manage payroll operations for 450+ employees, including union and non-union teams, on a weekly basis.
As a Payroll Specialist, you’ll work closely with the Payroll Manager to ensure smooth, accurate, and compliant payroll processing. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy problem-solving, and have a keen eye for detail, we want to hear from you!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Process & Prepare Payroll – Handle payroll for a large workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Payroll Tax Reporting – Complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll tax filings.
- Union Payroll & Fringe Calculations – Manage certified payroll audits and calculations for 15+ unions.
- Timesheet & Compliance Management – Collect and log timesheets, verify subcontractor documentation, and maintain compliance records.
- Expense & Mileage Reimbursement – Process expense reports for 300+ teammates.
- Process Improvement – Identify opportunities to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the Accounting Team – Gain insight into business processes and assist in additional accounting functions as needed.

What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: 4-5 years in administrative or accounting roles.
- Industry Knowledge: Construction payroll experience & familiarity with industry terms are a plus!
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF software. Experience with Vista software is highly preferred.
- Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
- Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to anticipate needs and proactively solve problems.
- Detail-Oriented & Tenacious: Ability to meet deadlines and follow through on tasks.
