Advanced Accounting Specialist

Trillium Professional is now seeking an Advanced Accounting Specialist in Southfield!

Pay rate is $40-45/hour. As part of the finance team, this is an exciting opportunity in a fast-paced, growing company where the individual can learn about various aspects of the business through partnership with other departments. Under limited supervision, this person provides support for month-end closing requirements including journal entries, account reconciliations, accrual calculations, financial reporting and closing requirements. They will act as a liaison between multiple departments to resolve issues or answer inquiries.

Job Responsibilities:
-Performs advanced accounting functions including monthly account reconciliations, monitoring certain monthly accruals and preparing journal entries in order to ensure proper reporting financials.
-Support month end close process as well as quarterly and annual year close and reporting to parent company including quarterly review by external auditors.
-Monitors balance sheet for potential future profits and loss impact.
-Performs complex analysis such as warranty accruals, in transit inventory calculations, cost of goods sold by affiliate calculations, prepaid expense accruals and deferrals and other ad-hoc analysis.
-Ensures internal controls are operating correctly with the goal of zero deficiencies through JSOX auditing.
-Performs financial analysis and assists in financial reporting activities in order to ensure proper recording of transactions and accurate monthly financial statements.
-Manage intercompany balances for specified affiliates including performing more complex intercompany account reconciliation.
-Assists with process improvement activities.
-Acts as a liaison between internal departments and other locations in order to resolve outstanding issues.
-Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
-Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
-5 or more years of relevant experience
-Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS is required, along with an understanding of current accounting operational structure (financial close, J-SOX, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:
-CPA
-Experience with Oracle Cloud systems, JD Edwards or other AS400 platform
-Advanced skills in Excel including formulas such as V lookup, pivot tables
-Automotive industry and inventory management experience
-Minimum Level of Knowledge and Skills Required
-Strong written and verbal communication skills to discuss or transmit primarily factual information to internal and external customers in the normal course of performing duties
-Strong analytical skills to investigate, interpret and reconcile information from several distinct sources in situations where conclusions or resolutions are discernible
-Customer service skills to display a service-oriented attitude in addressing and responding to customer issues
-Advanced understanding of accounting principles
-Cross functional team member
-Advanced process improvement (kaizen) mindset
-Advanced understanding of system knowledge
