Surveyor - Per Diem Offered

Trillium Construction is now seeking a Surveyor in Amarillo, TX!

Primary Responsibilities:
1. Site Layout & Surveying
-Perform accurate staking and layout for all phases of earthmoving and site prep (cut/fill, grading, foundation).
-Set control points, benchmarks, and alignments for utilities, structures, roads, parking lots, and drainage systems.
-Coordinate layout for excavation crews using GPS-guided machinery.

2. Use of Surveying Technology
-Operate Topcon and/or Trimble GPS/GNSS systems and total stations for layout and as-builts.
-Load and verify CAD site plans, surface models, and alignment data into survey instruments.
-Calibrate and troubleshoot machine control files and survey equipment.

3. Earthwork Support
-Collaborate closely with earthwork and grading subcontractors to ensure accurate cut/fill operations.
-Verify subgrade elevations and compaction layers meet design requirements.
-Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with earthwork volume calculations.

4. QA/QC & Documentation
-Perform as-built surveys for verification and documentation.
-Maintain survey logs, field notes, and digital records of layout work.
-Ensure compliance with project plans, tolerances, and local codes.

5. Coordination & Communication
-Work with project managers, civil engineers, and site superintendents to coordinate layout and scheduling.
-Attend field meetings and assist in resolving layout-related issues or discrepancies.

Working 50+ hours - right now 60 hours.  But dependent on project needs and progress.  Project will last 16-18 months.  Working morning/first shift.  Pay is up to $38 per hour BOE.  If traveling in for work and qualify for per diem - $100 per day worked.

Qualifications:
-3–5+ years experience in construction surveying, preferably on large commercial or institutional projects.
-Proficiency with Topcon and/or Trimble GPS survey systems and machine control.
-Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or similar software a plus.
-Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and architectural drawings.
-Knowledge of Texas construction and grading standards is highly preferred.
