Trillium Construction is now seeking a Financial Controller for a remote position!

Annual salary is $100–$125k + Benefits. This is 100% Remote (Pacific or Mountain Time preferred; Southern California strongly preferred).

A rapidly growing construction firm is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations. This role is ideal for a construction-experienced financial professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the unique requirements of the industry—including subcontractor management, job cost accounting, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Operations
-Oversee day-to-day financial operations including AP/AR, job cost accounting, payroll, and cash-flow management
-Maintain internal controls and collaborate with outside accounting partners
-Manage general ledger, monthly financial statements, WIP reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
-Coordinate quarterly reviews, annual audits, and tax filings

Project & Construction Accounting
-Lead client billing including Applications for Payment, Preliminary Notices, Lien Waivers, and invoice tracking
-Process owner and subcontractor change orders
-Conduct job profitability analysis and ensure accurate cost allocation
-Manage subcontractor compliance (licenses, insurance, certified payroll, PWA reporting)
-Oversee state registrations, business and tax license renewals, and insurance documentation

Regulatory & Specialized Requirements
-Strongly prefer experience with Prevailing Wage and Apprenticeship programs
-Experience working with subcontractors, lien releases, and construction documentation is required
-Experience with Public Works/Utility projects is a major plus

Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
-Construction accounting experience is REQUIRED (engineering, architecture, or GC/subcontractor environment)
-CPA preferred
-Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 and QuickBooks
-Detail-oriented, analytical, and exceptionally organized
-Excellent communication and time-management abilities
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
