Human Resources Specialist

We are seeking an experienced HR Specialist to join our in-seat Corporate Human Resources team in Kalamazoo, MI.

This role is primarily responsible for managing the company’s unemployment claims and compliance processes, while also supporting employee benefits administration. The position serves as the key point of contact for unemployment matters, ensuring timely responses, accurate documentation, and effective representation in hearings. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, confident working with regulatory agencies, and skilled at communicating information clearly.

Key responsibilities:
•    Serve as the primary administrator for unemployment claims, including claim intake, responses, determinations, appeals, and representation at hearings.
•    Monitor unemployment activity, track deadlines, and ensure timely and accurate submissions to state agencies.
•    Partner with ADP to resolve unemployment disputes and compliance issues.
•    Other benefits duties as assigned. 

This is an on-site position working Monday–Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. The pay rate is $22-26/hour.

Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
-Minimum 2 years of HR experience required.
-HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) a plus.
-Prior experience with HRIS or payroll systems preferred.
-Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
-Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
