Trillium Construction is now seeking a Senior Operations Manager in Sutter, CA!

Annual salary is $90,000 – $130,000/year.

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple crews and equipment across traffic control and sign manufacturing/installation operations. This leadership role ensures operational excellence, customer satisfaction, safety compliance, and financial performance within the branch.

The position oversees both roadway traffic control services and the manufacturing/installation of MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) and DOT roadway signage, including large-scale highway and interstate signage. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong field presence, financial acumen, and the ability to manage multiple crews across various project sites and disciplines.

This position requires a minimum on-site schedule of 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM and the flexibility to meet operational demands, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Field Management
-Lead and manage multiple crews operating in traffic control and sign manufacturing/installation.
-Oversee daily branch operations, including production, shop activities, staffing, safety, inventory, revenue, and earnings.
-Coordinate labor needs, including sourcing and scheduling external labor when required.
-Plan and schedule projects efficiently and cost-effectively across multiple job sites.
-Manage equipment and material needs based on project requirements.
-Ensure timely and accurate completion of field documentation and reporting.
-Travel as needed to oversee projects and maintain customer relationships.

Financial & Business Management
-Maintain full P&L responsibility for the branch.
-Balance corporate financial goals with customer expectations and local resource availability.
-Collaborate with accounting on revenue recognition, forecasting, billing, and reporting.
-Maintain accurate Weekly Revenue Forecast Reports.
-Monitor production reporting systems to ensure proper billing and revenue capture.
-Focus on maximizing profitability, cash flow, and operational efficiency.

Customer & Municipal Relations
-Serve as the direct representative to municipalities, DOT agencies, and customers.
-Handle project notifications, permitting, compliance with ordinances, and regulatory requirements.
-Manage scheduling discussions, scope changes, and dispute resolution professionally.
-Coordinate with estimating teams to align production capacity and address critical path challenges.

Safety & Compliance
-Oversee DOT compliance and safety training for employees.
-Maintain strong safety culture across all operations.
-Ensure adherence to state specifications for traffic control devices and materials.

Leadership & Talent Management
-Develop employee schedules and manage personnel assignments.
-Evaluate employee performance and contribute to hiring and termination decisions.
-Lead by example with strong business ethics, work habits, and accountability.
-Build and maintain a high-performing, collaborative team environment.

Required Qualifications
-Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic control and roadway safety operations, including formal industry training and hands-on crew experience.
-Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience overseeing multiple crews.
-Demonstrated P&L management experience and strong financial acumen.
-Experience managing multiple job sites simultaneously.
-Strong understanding of state DOT specifications and MOT standards.
-Proficiency in MS Excel and Word; experience with Viewpoint or similar ERP systems preferred (training available).
-Ability to work extended hours and maintain 24/7 availability when operational demands require it.

Preferred Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
-Industry involvement through trade associations or collaboration with state DOT organizations.
-Experience managing both traffic control field operations and sign manufacturing/installation operations.
